another possibility for your lslkny blog... what exactly solden does, and what kind of gods/spirits/etc he's dealing with; especially whether or not anyone else does the same
im not entirely sure how to start this post; so bare with me if it is disjointed.
Solden is a shapeshifting half dragon and half humanoid 'elf'- tall and moderately slim, with pointed ears. overall he looks remarkably human from the hips up; aside from his pointy teeth. his legs however are the sort that the foot is elongated and it is much like a dogs back leg; only it is situated so that standing upright is the usual means of standing. because of this he can run quite fast. he can shapeshift to appear as a small dragon (warm blooded, not feathered. capable of flying. his wings have a thick hairlike front edge for protection i assume. ) he stands at about 7.5' tall when humanoid, and only marginally longer in dragon form (before tail).
he sleeps curled up like many pets do, in dragon form.
his day to day job is much like an exterminator - for 'demons'. these demons are a reaction to large amounts of emotion in an area; i dont know if the emotion simply attracts them or creates them. they are very reactionary creatures with little thought; but can cause a lot of problems to personal property and things living in the area/place. it is Solden's job to destroy, kill, or remove these things for others. this can be done sometimes simply with a sutra or symbol(s), if it is weaker, other times violence is needed to accomplish anything. he also, in a similar vein, does work to remove problems in greater society (by the queen's orders) that can not be imprisoned for whatever reason. he is under the orders of the queen from his younger years serving in the royal military. he was trained as a mage with some additional hand to hand combat training. he currently uses both still in his work.
he also is in charge of priestly rites; marriages, births, deaths. helps protect property and citizens from unruly spirits or demons in times that energy can be turbulent, and for general peace of mind.
because of his jobs though, he is a necessary but fringe part of his village. he lives about a 15 minute walk from the village to keep him away from the general population. the population is afraid that spirits or energy will be attracted to him and his home. many times he is ignored when he goes to town. because of this his twin sister often does the chores of shopping for food and any needed supplies.
his home serves as the local major place of worship and any spiritual issues the one needing help goes to his home. it is not like earthly churches though. there is no service, and no expected worship times. many people have their own home altars and practices for household and community protection or stability.
